My journey into books...

Hello everyone!

My name is Paige, and I am so excited you are reading about my blog and wanting to get to know me.  If you could not tell, this is a blog where I talk about book ranging from the good, the bad, and the ugly.  I will give y'all an honest review of the books I read as well as take part in some pretty cool stuff.  Please visit my BookTube and Features page for more information about these special additions to my blog!

You must be thinking that for me to be such a book nerd that I have loved reading my whole life.  Well, actually, that's not true.  I did not really get into reading the way I am now until about a year and a half ago.  When I was a child, I HATED reading!  I know...blasphemy!  It was not until I was introduced to some Nancy Drew books and Tamora Pierce in middle school that I thought reading was just "okay" and not some awful event created to murder my soul.  Even then, I probably only read 10 books a year until this recent turning point.  So what brought about this new reading revelation?

I was a collegiate Division I swimmer, but suffered a knee injury that plagued me throughout my college years.  In the beginning of my junior year, my knee had just had enough and I needed pretty extensive surgery.  While I was recovering and not being able to do, well, many things, I started reading to pass the time.  Reading became an escape from my frustration of suddenly being ripped out of the swimming world and not being able to walk for about 8 weeks.  I don't want this to be a "pitty party" because, as reading became my therapy, it completely changed my world in such a unique way!

Once I got into reading, I was introduced to BookTube (again refer to my previous link for clarification as to what this is).  I was so enamored by these people being able to truly express their feelings through books and to fangirl over series and characters alike.  Ultimately, I decided to start my own BookTube page and joined a community where everyone is just so welcoming and embraces you with such veracity.

Through this epic journey into reading, I have found myself TRULY exhuming who I am as well as creating myself into the person I want to become.  I hope that your own book journey treats you just as kindly as mine has.  This adventure has only just begun, and I invite you to follow me.  As George R.R. Martin states, "a reader lives a thousand lives before he dies," and I venture to explore all of the lives that I can!
